First peated cask strength bottling from the Benriach distillery, this version has been bottled at 56% ABV. This expression is a testimony to the original Speyside character and flavour of malts, typical of the nineteenth century. Matured in a combination of Oloroso Sherry casks and Bourbon barrels, Batch 1 is non chill filtered and at natural colour.
Profile: smoked, rich and elegant.
- Nose : campfire-roasted apples combined perfectly with crisp white pepper. A gentle, earthy oak character adds to the subtly peated back note.
- Palate : warm toasted oak with a sweetness that combines toffee apples and ripe nectarines.
- Overall : sweet heather smoke with a lingering peat note alongside rich stewed barley.
